En francais, s'il vous plait

Wow, 2 1/2 weeks left and I'll be back in the States. I am having a great time here and this is the experience of a lifetime, but I am going to be so happy to be back home and see all of the people I love. I do miss the US, not only because of my families (blood family and church family) there, but I do miss US culture. Maybe because it's what I'm used to or comfortable with or whatever the reason, I miss it. I miss my small hometown, I miss cheap fast food, I miss living in the country and driving everywhere instead of walking, etc. etc. etc. This wasn't going to be a post about all the things I miss about home, honestly.

Anyway, I realized that I haven't blogged about my new housemates yet. As (I think) I've said before, Mary and Giselle both left at the end of June, before I went on my week-long vacation. Now there are three Institut students staying here, a brother and sister from Miami, Desiree and Salvador (sp?), and Philippe (sp? pronounced Philippe-ay). They are really nice, all younger than me, and at a beginning level of French, so I get to feel all mature and knowledgable when I'm really not. Ha. Also, because they don't know a whole lot of French, but speak fluent Spanish, they are always speaking in Spanish with each other. It makes me actually want to know/learn Spanish (which I've never wanted to learn before) just so I can understand them. All three also speak English (fluently), but since Madame (my hostmom) speaks Spanish, it's easier for them to communicate with her in Spanish. It's interesting, because there has been English, Spanish, and French all spoken at the dinner table. I love languages. :-)

Interesting thing today, we had "class pictures." Yeah, we stood on the steps at the front of the Institut and smiled and had our picture taken like we were in the third grade again. It was wierd, even wierder, they are available to purchase ...yeah.

Au revoir!
